Five reasons to buy a static caravan in Yorkshire

Known as God’s own country, Yorkshire is absolutely bursting with charm, from its stunning coastline and rolling hills to its attractive towns and friendly locals.

The eastern border of Yorkshire, home to our five holiday parks with caravans for sale, boasts a 45-mile long coastline, overlooking the bracing North Sea. Combine that with a plethora of seaside towns, sprawling landscape including the North Yorkshire Moors and the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and you have a winning combination for the setting of your home away from home.

Eric Jones, one of our owners at Primrose Valley, sums life as an owner in Yorkshire up perfectly: ''I love my own holiday home at Primrose Valley! It's a great getaway with lovely surroundings and locations to visit.''

Here are five reasons to buy a static caravan holiday home in Yorkshire.

1. A property of your own at one of our parks

1. A property of your own at one of our parks

You can truly make yourself at home when you buy a caravan at one of our Yorkshire parks. Stretching from Skipsea to Flamborough and Filey, each of our caravan parks makes the most of their setting in this unique and stunning part of the country.

Blue Dolphin Holiday Park enjoys views over Gristhorpe Bay, close to Filey’s beautiful beach, and with indoor and outdoor pools and a fishing lake. Primrose Valley, near Filey Bay, is a larger site, with sea views, direct beach access and a range of owners’ only facilities.

Reighton Sands, just a touch further down with views over Filey Bay, has direct access to a quiet stretch of sandy beach, a swimming pool and a lovely lazy river. Also perched on the clifftop in this region is Thornwick Bay, close to charming Flamborough and with a new Boathouse and jetty providing exciting watersports.

Finally, there’s our owners-only park, Far Grange. With direct beach access, woodland walks, an 18-hole golf course, swimming pool and fishing lake, buying a caravan here brings you into the heart of the owners’ community.

2. Amenities to make life easy

Hornsea South: another East Riding gem

The largest county in the UK, there are 2.9 million acres waiting to be explored in Yorkshire, including over 800 conservation areas and two UNESCO World Heritage sites: Saltaire, a well-preserved industrial village in West Yorkshire, and Studley Royal Park and the ruins of Fountains Abbey in North Yorkshire.

Our caravan parks are close to the North York Moors National Park, of which more than a fifth is made up of woodland and forest. There’s also the famed Yorkshire Dales National Park, encompassing the Three Peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside. You’ll find walks to suit everyone in this region, including accessible options.

4. A place steeped in history

4. A place steeped in history

From the birthplace and home of the Bronte sisters to the York’s Viking past, there’s so much history to explore in the region. The Bronte Parsonage Museum in Haworth is the place to find out more about the esteemed literary family, and you can expand your literary knowledge even further with the Dracula Experience, a walking tour of Whitby that explores the novel’s relationship with the town. York’s Jorvik museum is a must-visit, especially for families, and you’ll get a true glimpse of what life was like in Viking times in an interactive setting.

Meanwhile, old meets new at the National Railway Museum, also in York, a free museum that showcases an array of different carriages from throughout the ages, many of which you can step inside.

5. A place where you’ll find several home comforts

Yorkshire is truly a feast for the eyes and for your tastebuds, with so much produce to try whilst you’re in the region. Make like Nick Park’s animated favourite, Wallace, and sample delicious Wensleydale cheese – a medium, crumbly cheese that’s been in production since the 1500s.

They’re serious about a decent cup of tea in this part of the world, and it’s the home of Yorkshire Tea and Taylor’s of Harrogate Coffee – so a proper brew is never far away. To really treat your tastebuds, take a trip to Betty’s in York, Harrogate, Northallerton or Ilkley, a traditional tearoom with delicious sweet treats, too.

And of course, if you’re going to be an honorary Yorkshire resident thanks to your new caravan holiday home on one of our parks, you’ll need to perfect your Yorkshire pudding making skills!
