Denise Bossons is the General Manager at Hafan y Mor Holiday Park in North Wales, an almost 500-acre space by the Llyn Peninsula Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with beaches either side, which Denise says is a real breath of fresh air.

There really is tonnes to do when on Holiday at Hafan y Mor – read on for Denise’s picks of the best things to do.

1. Action-packed activities

Hafan y Mor is absolutely action-packed, filled with every single activity that you could want. We’ve probably got one of the best pools in any UK holiday park, with its slides, lazy river and wave machine.

Then the Adventure Village has the climbing wall, high ropes, and a jump tower directly outside the restaurant complex. We’ve got a huge boating lake in the middle of the park for dragon boats, and then we’ve got karts, 4x4s, segways, sandpits - it has it all. We even have the Bark Yard dog agility course so we also have entertainment for your four-legged friends, too.

We've opened Batfast next to the Activity Village in the SportsDrome. You can pit your wits against your family playing tennis, baseball and cricket – I’m still the champion in the Senior Leadership Team which is really great!

We also have our creative studio, and guests love it. There’s everything from Make a Bear to pottery creations. There’s plenty to do on a rainy day.

We’ve also got a 9-hole golf course that sits next to the ocean and has the most incredible views of the peninsula as well as Criccieth and Criccieth Castle. You can see out to Harlech in the distance. So it really is a lovely place to be up there at the golf course.

2. Nature walks and ranger activities

We’ve got three rangers on the park that have a wealth of knowledge. They do everything from den making to firelighting and bat box making - we even have a bat hotel on the park which is really great. At Halloween the rangers do a spooky walk down by the river to the bat hotel – it's home to hundreds of pipistrelle bats that we have full ecology on.

3. Eat your heart out

I think food is one of our real highlights at Hafan y Mor. There are 10 restaurants including the Coast House, the Cakery, the Pizza Deck, Seaside Treats, the Glendower Pub, and for our owners there’s the Dragons restaurant and Dragons lounge. And we have Costa Coffee available across the park, which is fantastic.

Then there are the brands. The addition of Slim Chickens has been absolutely phenomenal. The restaurant just looks incredible, the product is brilliant, and it caters to everybody from children to mum and dad to the team – every time I go in there there’s half the lifeguards in there having their lunch! But it’s been so so well received. We’ve also launched a Slims-to-go delivery service around the park. And then you have Burger King, Cook’s, Papa Johns, all the best of the brands and everything that you need on a holiday.

4. Get outdoors

4. Get outdoors

Hafan y Mor Holiday Park is just shy of 500 acres, so it’s a big space and there are so many places to get out and about and enjoy the air. We straddle the Lyn peninsula and we have two beaches to either side which are walkable on the park for families. The Welsh coastal path comes right through the park as well.

There is so much to see around here, from the dolphins in the ocean, to otters strolling around, rabbits everywhere, kingfishers in the brook and sand martins flying about in the cliffs. I’m very passionate about the wildlife and it’s important to our families.

Snowdonia National Park: a unique UK landscape

And I think the biggest single selling point we have for Hafan is we’re surrounded by the mountains and Snowdonia, and it's just breathtaking. We’re eight miles from Abersoch which is a great place to go and visit, it’s got restaurants and bars and just a stone’s through from Nefyn which is one of the best golf courses in Wales.

It’s also a really dog-friendly park because there’s so much outdoor space so you can walk to two beaches just by the park as well as being surrounded by several beaches in the local area.

So my top tip to everyone would be to bring your comfortable trainers because there’s so much to see when you get out and walk.

5. Be entertained

5. Be entertained

We have two main entertainment venues, The Boardwalk and The Cove, so we’re able to accommodate significantly more guests. We updated The Boardwalk with a full entertainment programme including sensory sessions, and lots for little people to do.

Then we have three arcades - a main arcade in The Boardwalk area, a smaller arcade located at the back of The Cove venue for night times, and we also have Oodles, an arcade with soft play down in the Coast House complex. The kids just love them!

What do you love about Hafan y Mor?

I love being in the great outdoors - it’s an absolute breath of fresh air at the seaside in the most beautiful, beautiful location in the UK. Everything here is thought through with families in mind, and it really is the best place to be for families young and old.
