Turks Head, Rothbury, Northumberland
This 16th-century former coaching inn goes out of their way for your canine, making it one of the best dog friendly pubs in the UK. Hospitality is at the heart of the doggy experience here, with furry friends accommodated in the bar area. Good boys and girls can enjoy sitting nicely, and politely mingling with other four-legged patrons in this area.
The expansive outdoor space also provides for your pooch, giving you both a great spot in sun to refresh yourselves. The view from here is simply sensational, with impressive scenes over Rothbury, Coquetdale and Simonside. You’re also just a 15-minute drive from the coast.
The Louth, Mablethorpe, Lincolnshire
We think Mablethorpe is an underrated gem of the British seaside, and the fact that The Louth is just a few steps from the coast means it has to be on our list of best dog friendly pubs in the UK.
A pub for the whole family, this local favourite has a dedicated area for all ages in the beer garden, as well as a lovely set of amusements for the kids to play on. With a pool table, darts board, free WiFi, Sky Sports and entertainment in the holiday season, there all the classic ingredients that make a pub great. And you can do them all with your dog by your side.
The Lacon Arms, Hemsby, Norfolk
The magnificent Lacon Arms in Hemsby sits just 50 yards from the golden, sandy beach nearby. The pub’s fabulous outdoor seating area means it must appear amongst the best dog friendly pubs in the UK. This space gives you a magnificent view of the North Sea as you mull over a pint of your favourite drink.
This pub really holds a place in local folklore, and well-behaved dogs are welcomed indoors and outdoors as long as they’re kept on a lead. The pub’s friendly owners will even throw in a water bowl for your furry friend, ideal for a spot of nourishment after a long walk through this picturesque part of Norfolk.
The Shepherd and Dog, Fulking, Sussex
The clue is in the name! The Shepherd and Dog prides itself on being one of the best hiker and dog-friendly pubs in the whole county. It houses an exciting mix of old and new, with modern décor offsetting traditional elements that hark back to the pub’s 18th-century roots. The pub is tucked away at the foot of Devils Dyke, in picturesque Fulking, and is surrounded by luscious countryside that makes for a scenic walk for your dog.
