For those looking for a little more of a challenge in the same area, this circular route around St Agnes Beacon is slightly longer, but offers even more to see. St Agnes Beacon is surrounded by heritage, from Stone Age artefacts to World War Two pillboxes.

Shrouded in mystery and packed with local history, the Minions Circular Walk is a great way to explore some of the famed Bodmin Moor's most famous sites. Starting at the quirkily named village of Minions, the circular trail passes The Cheesewring, one of Cornwall's most impressive and curious geological features. Experience the magical Hurlers Stone Circle and discover a group of derelict industrial buildings that are relics of the once prosperous South Phoenix Mine.

Boscastle to Tintagel

Starting at the traditional fishing village of Boscastle, this walk is steeped in history and legend. The trail ends at Tintagel Castle of Arthurian fame, one of English Heritage's most recognisable sites. Along the path, you’ll encounter spectacular coastal scenery, local wildlife, a mysterious cave, and pristine sandy beaches. Treat yourself to a cream tea at one of the lovely shops in Tintagel to round off the experience.

Set out on a leisurely 5.5-mile stroll along the Camel Trail, tracing the wide inlet of the Camel River to the bustling market town of Wadebridge. Enjoy flat terrain, vibrant wildflowers, serene views of the river flowing out to sea and look out for a variety of birdlife including herons and little egrets. On arriving in Wadebridge, be sure to check out the Old Tea House for some stellar snacks.

Fowey Hall walk

Fowey is a charming medieval town that sits beside a beautiful, natural deep-water harbour. While it may be a 50-minute drive from Perran Sands Holiday Park, it’s well worth the journey to experience the unique history and walk its cobbled streets on a delightful circular walk. The Hall Walk takes you for two ferry crossings and meanders through peaceful woodlands, with spectacular views of the harbour as the icing on the cake.

This moderately challenging route near Riviere Sands Holiday Park will take you around Godrevy headland to the dramatic Hell's Mouth where the 300ft high cliffs regularly take visitors’ breath away. This trail also takes in the spectacular heathland of the Knavocks and Mutton Cove, where seals can be spotted on the beach below.

For a shorter, yet equally scenic walk, head towards St Ives from Carbis Bay. This route follows the South West Coast Path in the same direction, providing a picturesque coastal journey. If you prefer, you can return to Carbis Bay inland via the Steeple Woods Nature Reserve. Conveniently, the starting point in Carbis Bay is under a 15-minute drive from Riviere Sands, making it a must for your itinerary.

St Ives to Zennor

Distance: 12 miles 

Difficulty: moderate to challenging 

Embark on a 12-mile circular hike from St Ives to Zennor, tracing the South West Coast Path on the outward journey. This trail offers an irresistible combination of World War Two history, captivating coastal views from the towering cliffs, and pristine beaches. Begin your adventure in St Ives, follow the path along the sea to Zennor Head, then head back through picturesque fields and meadows before finishing among the Upalong mining area in the outskirts of St Ives.
